Albatross Back in Lepe

A pair of albatross has returned to Lepeuli recently. They have been sited doing a mating dance and starting to build a nest in the ironwoods mauka of the alaloa, mauka of the new fenceposts.

Time to request Waioli to protect precious coastal resources and not deny their existence. Request the immediate construction of a seabird-friendly nest enclosure that excludes predators (especially cats, dogs, pigs and people). Waipake has established a successful albatross colony with orange plastic fencing around the nest site. Why does Waioli choose to turn their nest area into a commercial cattle pasture???
